Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Underwriting: Evaluate insurance applications to determine coverage amounts and premiums using underwriting software and actuarial data. Establish pricing for accepted insurable risks.
  • Insurance Policy Management: Oversee the administration of insurance policies, including underwriting, claims processing, and policy renewals.
  • Compliance and Regulation: Ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements and industry standards related to insurance operations.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct thorough risk assessments to determine appropriate coverage and premiums for clients.
  • Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, addressing their insurance needs and providing expert advice and guidance.
  • Claims Handling: Manage the claims process efficiently and effectively, ensuring timely resolution and fair compensation for clients.
  • Market Research: Stay informed about market trends, competitor offerings, and emerging insurance products to provide innovative solutions to clients.
  • Team Leadership: Provide leadership and guidance to the insurance team, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Prepare reports on insurance activities, including financial performance, claims trends, and client feedback, for management review.

Qualifications

Educational Qualifications

  • University degree or equivalent qualification in Insurance or University degree in Business, Risk Management or related field from a recognized institution.
  • Must have a Certificate of Proficiency in Insurance (COP).

Experience & Competencies Required

  • Underwriting Skills: Proficiency in using underwriting software and actuarial data for risk evaluation and pricing. Experience in insurance underwriting is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of working experience in the insurance industry.
  • Excellent innovative, marketing, communication, organizing, and leadership skills.
  • Adheres to all the policies and procedures of the bank.
  • Able to meet timelines in the submission of reports and any other reports as required to be submitted.
  • Ability to balance long term and short-term requirements independently.
  • Strong evaluation, communication, and reporting skills.
  • Work is diverse and involves movement to project location but also semi-routine requiring major prioritization, planning, and control of work.
  • Ability to balance opposing business requirements.
  • A structured approach to dealing with complex and variable work environments in an independent manner.
  • Able to provide advice and cause/effect evaluation to support business decision making.
